1. Fundamental Privacy Commitment

Nebula does not collect, transmit, store, or sell your personal files, file names, file contents, or directory structures.

Nebula is an offline-first native macOS desktop application. All scanning, cryptographic SHA-256 checksum computations, and file transfers occur strictly on your local Mac hardware and your chosen storage destination (external SSD, local NAS, or cloud sync mount).

2. Data Handled by the Website

When you interact with our website (https://getnebula.app):

  • No Tracking Cookies: We do not use third-party advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or surveillance pixels.
  • Pre-Release Waitlist: If you voluntarily join our Mac waitlist, we collect your email address solely to send you a double opt-in confirmation and notification when Nebula is ready for download. You can unsubscribe at any moment with one click.
  • Waitlist Provider: Waitlist submissions are processed via double opt-in verification. Your email is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and never shared or sold.

3. Data Handled by the Mac App

  • 100% App Sandboxed: Nebula operates within macOS App Sandbox with user-selected folder bookmarks. It does not require or request Full Disk Access (FDA).
  • Zero Telemetry: The desktop app contains zero analytics SDKs, zero crash-reporting daemons that phone home, and zero background network beacons.
  • Audit Logging: All scan and transfer logs are written strictly to your local Mac (~/Library/Application Support/) with restricted permissions (0600). These logs never leave your device.

4. Compliance with India DPDP Act 2023 & EU GDPR

In accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (India) and the General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR):

  • Lawful Basis & Consent: Waitlist emails are processed exclusively with explicit, double opt-in consent.
  • Right to Erasure & Access: You may request complete deletion of your email address from our launch list at any time by emailing support@getnebula.app. Requests are honored within 48 hours.
  • Data Fiduciary Contact: Independent Mac Developer, Bengaluru, India. Email: support@getnebula.app.
